Szatkowski Scores Twice as Bentley Doubles Southern NH, 4-2

WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior Caroline Szatkowski (Reeders, Pa./Pocono Mountain West HS) scored her first two career goals to lift Bentley University to a 4-2 Northeast-10 Conference win over Southern New Hampshire University in college field hockey action Wednesday evening on the Bentley Turf Field.

It was the second straight victory for the Falcons, who improved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 NE10. SNHU, which was outshot 27-4, slid to 0-3 after dropping its NE10 opener.

Bentley controlled play early and had a 3-0 lead a little more than 16 minutes into the contest. Szatkowski opened the scoring with 13:02 on the first quarter clock when she knocked the ball into the cage out of a scramble in front of the cage.

The next two Falcon goals were scored with a minute left in the first quarter and a minute into the second. Junior Ava Bevilacqua (Dedham/Notre Dame Academy) scored from in close for the second goal and Szatkowski made it 3-0 when she knocked in a rebound for her second goal.

It would be 37 minutes before Bentley scored again. In between, the Penmen cut the gap to one on goals from freshman Annemartine Christie (S-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands) and junior Sofie Wolters (Schilde, Belgium), the latter coming on a penalty stroke.

The Falcons picked up an insurance goal with when senior Christine Murray (Walpole/Walpole HS) scored her second of the year with just under seven minutes to play, off an assist from senior Kate Slowe (Medfield/Medfield HS).

Freshman Mia Trottie (Cinnaminson, N.J./Bishop Eustace HS) made three saves for Bentley, which had a 12-4 advantage in penalty corners.

Bentley's next game is at Assumption next Wednesday. This Friday night's scheduled Friday night game against Molloy was postponed and rescheduled for Oct. 17.
