DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Freshman goalkeeper Mia Trottie (Cinnaminson, N.J./Bishop Eustace HS) recorded her first career shutout as Bentley University opened its Northeast-10 Conference schedule with a 3-0 win over Mercy College in college field hockey action Saturday at Mercy Field.

Trottie, who made six saves, was supported by two first quarter goals from junior midfielder Bridget Coughlin (Wolfeboro, N.H./Kingswood Reg. HS) and sophomore forward Katie Thies (Liverpool, N.Y./Cicero North Syracuse HS).

Coughlin scored her first of the season with 8:24 left in the first quarter off a pass from graduate student Sam Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS). Exactly five minutes later, Thies scored out of a scrum in front of the net, with junior Ava Bevilacqua (Dedham, Mass./Notre Dame Acad.).

Freshman Lida Coco (Litchfield, Conn./Canterbury School), with her first career goal, added the Falcons' third goal of the day with 8:46 to play.

Bentley (2-2, 1-0 NE10) nearly doubled the Mevericks in shots, 13-7, while Mercy (1-1, 0-1 NE10) had the edge in penalty corners, 8-6.

The Falcons will return home to take on Southern New Hampshire Wednesday at 6 pm.
