Quartet Named Bentley Field Hockey Captains

WALTHAM, Mass. – A quartet of seniors have named captains of the 2018 Bentley University field hockey team, head coach Jessica Spencer announced. They are Rachel Crowley (Leicester/ Notre Dame Acad.), Niki Neidhart (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch HS), Frankie Tossona (Lansdale, Pa./ North Penn HS) and Morgan Van Epps (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa HS).

"Each of these players has had an impact on the Bentley Field Hockey program in a different way," said Spencer. "They lead by their actions and complement each other very well.  I am excited to have them lead the program both on and off the field in a positive direction."

Crowley is back in action this season after an injury keep her out of uniform last fall. The forward started every game as a sophomore and totaled six goals and five assists during her first two seasons.

Neidhart, a midfielder, led the team in scoring last fall with six goals and five assists in her first Falcon season. She came to Bentley a year ago after playing in 21 games for Syracuse University in 2015 and 2016.

Tossona, a two-time Academic All-Northeast-10 honor, appeared in every game for the 2017 Falcons, starting 16 of the team's 18 contests. She had two defensive saves and also had a successful penalty stroke.

Van Epps, a forward, has been in 44 games over the last three seasons and started six of the final eight contests in 2017. She scored her first career goal last October against St. Michael's.

Bentley will open its season Saturday with a non-conference game at Adelphi University and will host West Chester University in the home opener Labor Day. Both contests are scheduled for a noon start.
