Pair of Late Goals Propels Assumption Past Bentley, 3-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – Goals from junior Belle Ives (Topsfield) and senior Andrea Koslowski (Warren) in the final 6:23 were the difference as visiting Assumption College topped Bentley University, 3-1, in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey Saturday.

Assumption clinched a berth in the Northeast-10 championship tournament with the victory and improved to 10-7 overall (7-5 NE-10). Meanwhile, Bentley finished its 2016 campaign with records of 7-11 overall and 5-7 conference.

Ives broke a 1-1 tie late in the second half with her eighth goal of the campaign assisted by junior Allison Sheahan (Higganum, Conn.). Just about three minutes later, with 3:13 remaining, Koslowski stretched the Hounds' lead to two as she scored off a rebound.

It took Assumption just 100 seconds to get on the scoreboard with freshman Sam Tepper (Stroudsburg, Pa.) netting her third of the season for the early lead. Bentley answered about seven minutes later with freshman Sam Pavano (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) scoring her sixth off a pass from senior Tori Ellis (Madison, N.J./Madison HS).

Bentley was outshot 18-3 with Falcon senior Evelyn Schaedel (Burlington, Vt./Burlington HS) making the game's only six saves.

The Falcons celebrated Senior Day before the contest with Ellis, Schaedel and senior defender Tori Castro (Winchester/Winchester HS) playing their final collegiate game.
