Newburyport Daily News: "Falcon field general"

Dan Harrison, sports editor of the Newburyport Daily News, profiled Bentley field hockey captain Molly Rowe. This article appeared in the Aug. 21 edition of the newspaper and online at www.newburyporynews.com.

Molly Rowe was part of a big freshman class on the Bentley field hockey team when she first stepped on campus three years ago.

Coupled with the fact that as a defender, sometimes it can be hard to standout since the Newburyport native isn't a flashy forward putting up monster scoring numbers for the Falcons. Still, Rowe emerged as not only one of the most reliable players on the field but also one of the team's strongest leaders.

So heading into her senior season this fall, Rowe was voted a team captain by her teammates.

"I was voted (captain) which I thought was an honor. It's nice to be recognized because it's a big group of girls," said Rowe, who left for camp yesterday. "As a defender you don't get much recognition in the league because you're not the one scoring points and goals. It's a huge honor that the team thought I was capable of leading them and to have a strong voice to lead us to wins."
