Bentley #2 Seed for Upcoming Northeast-10 Field Hockey Playoffs

WALTHAM, Mass. – After finishing the regular season with seven consecutive wins, the Bentley University Falcons will enter the Northeast-10 Conference field hockey playoffs as the number two seed.

Coach Jessica Spencer's team earned a first-round bye and will play Saturday morning at 11 am at top-seeded Merrimack College against the winner of Wednesday's game between third-seeded UMass-Lowell and number six Stonehill College. Lowell, the two-time defending tournament champion, edged the Skyhawks in their only previous meeting this season, 2-1.

The other half of the bracket will put number one Merrimack against the four-five winner, Southern Connecticut State at Adelphi. The championship game is slated for 12 noon Sunday and will be webcast on Northeast-10 TV.

Bentley, NE-10 playoff champs in both 2008 and 2009, will enter the conference tournament 11-6 overall. The streak began with a 2-0 win over UMass-Lowell on Oct.4 and is the program's longest since the 2009 club also strung together seven in a row. The Falcons last had a streak longer than seven in 2008 when they won 16 consecutive.  Since a 6-0 loss to Lowell on Sept. 8, the team is 9-3 overall and unbeaten in regulation.

Bentley was third in last week's NCAA Division II East Region rankings, behind Merrimack and UMass-Lowell.
