Franklin Pierce Cools Off #10 Bentley, 2-0

RINDGE, N.H. – Senior Tia Levins (Manchester, Maine) and senior Danielle Dolan (West Brookfield, Mass.) scored ten minutes apart in the second half to propel Franklin Pierce University to a 2-0 win over Bentley University in a non-conference field hockey match Saturday afternoon at Sodexho Field.

Bentley, which had been ranked 10th in the latest Kookaburra/NFHCA Division II coaches' poll, saw its three-match winning streak come to an end and dropped to 4-5 on the season. Franklin Pierce used a 20-10 advantage in shots to run its record to 4-6.

After a scoreless opening period that extended Bentley's stretch of not allowing a goal to 264 minutes, Levins netted her eighth of the season 3:12 into the second half. Dolan shot from the right end line and Levins deflected it into the cage.

Ten minutes and five seconds later, Dolan provided her team with some insurance, scoring her third of the year off a Chanelle Letarte (Lunenburg, Mass.) assist.

Senior Brittany Nyzio (Attleboro, Mass.) registered her eighth career shutout, becoming Franklin Pierce's all-time leader. She had three saves while Bentley junior Julia Powell (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug HS) had a busy afternoon, turning away ten shots.

Bentley will be home for three matches next week, beginning with Merrimack College Tuesday at 7 pm.
