Sideris Earns 1st-Team All-Northeast-10 Honors for 2nd Time

WALTHAM, Mass. -- For the second straight year, Bentley University's Stephanie Sideris (Watertown/Watertown HS) has been named to the All-Northeast-10 Conference field hockey first team.

Three other Falcons were also recognized Monday when the conference announced its annual award winners for field hockey. Senior Devan Weed (Hampstead, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) was selected for second-team All-Conference accolades, and the NE-10 All-Rookie team included two freshmen who came to Bentley from Pennsylvania, forward Brandi Asplundh (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Acad. of the New Church) and defender Molly Ricker (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin HS).

Sideris, who was the 2008 Northeast-10 Freshman of the Year, split time between midfield and the forward line for the Falcons this season. She was second on the team in scoring, finishing with four goals and five assists, and now has 48 career points, on 16 goals and a like number of assists.

Weed, also a midfielder, was a solid contributor in her first Bentley season.  The University of New Hampshire transfer was tied for the team-high in assists with five.

Asplundh saw action in every match, with five starts, and amassed a goal and an assist. Ricker appeared in 15 contests, with 12 of those starts.

Bentley, an NCAA Division II participant the last six seasons, had a rebuilding year after being hit hard by graduation and finished with a 7-12 record.
