Bentley Field Hockey Raises $2,300 to Fight Breast Cancer

WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Bentley University field hockey team raised $2,300 to help in the fight against breast cancer during its annual "Play 4 the Cure" event, which was held last Saturday.

Bentley is one of many field hockey programs across the country that is participating in the Play 4 the Cure campaign, which is aimed at raising awareness and money for breast cancer. October is the height of the field hockey playing season in the United States and it is also the month when the national spotlight shines on breast cancer awareness.

In addition, on Sunday, Oct. 3, the team participated in the 18th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Boston.  The team completed a two-mile walk along with over 4,000 other participants and raised an additional $1,600 for this event for a grand total of $3,900 on the weekend.

"Each year, the team looks forward to these events," said Bentley head coach Jessica King. "They continue to raise the bar, and with the help of the Bentley community, friends and family, we were able to reach our goals again this year."
