INDIANA, Pa. -- Junior Shannon Sullivan (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored with 4:24 remaining in overtime to give Indiana University of Pennsylania a 2-1 victory over visiting Bentley University in non-conference field hockey Saturday. It was the season-opener for both clubs, each of whom was ranked in the preseason NFHCA Division II coaches poll.

Bentley, number seven preseason, held a 1-0 lead for much of the contest following a goal by sophomore Beth Maguire (Medfield, Mass./Medfield HS) in the 26th minute.  Junior All-America Stephanie Sideris (Watertown, Mass./Watertown HS) provided the assist.

With Falcon sophomore Kaitlyn Riley (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington HS) turning in a strong effort in her collegiate debut, it remained 1-0 until senior Lisa Bachman (Sinking Spring, Pa.) spoiled the shutout bid with five minutes left on the second-half clock.

Riley finished with 14 saves while her counterpart from IUP, freshman Laura Brust (Pennsburg, Pa.), had seven.  IUP kept the pressure on her all afternoon with the Crimson Hawks, number eight preseason, finishing with a 22-10 advantage in shots and 14 of the game's 15 penalty corners.

Following the game, Bentley third-year head coach Jessica King singled out the three players mentioned above, along with junior Tori Bergantino (Waltham/Waltham HS) for their performances.

Bentley remains in western Pennsylvania for a 1:00 game Sunday against Millersville University. That will also be played at IUP.
