Bentley Mourns Passing of Former Football Standout Greg Novarro

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University Athletic Hall of Famer Greg Novarro '93, a standout running back for the Falcons from 1990-92, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8 as the result of injuries suffered in a fall at his home in Highland Village, Texas. He was 53.

Novarro, who was inducted into the Bentley Hall of Fame in 1999, had an outstanding career for the Falcons after transferring from Boston University. He was the first Bentley football player to earn All-America honors when he was selected for the Champion Division III All-America second team as a senior. That same year, Novarro was tabbed for Don Hansen's Football Gazette Division III All-America third team.

Twice recognized as Bentley's Offensive MVP (1990, 1992), Novarro was named both the ECAC/Budget New England Division III and the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference player of the year in 1992. That season, he led Division III in total points with 150.

Novarro finished his Bentley career with 2,628 rushing yards, 42 touchdowns and 252 points, all school records at the time. More than three decades after his final game, he still owns the school records for touchdowns in a season (25) and career (150), rushing attempts in a season (39) and season (280), rushing yards in a game (317) and season (1384), rushing TDs in a season (23) and career (37),  career 100-yard rushing games (13), and all-purpose running yards in a game (353). He is second in school history in career rushing yards, touchdowns and points.

Novarro was also inducted into the Clinton High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2022, in his home state of Connecticut.

Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, at 11 am, at the Village Church in Highland Village, Texas with visitation from 10-11 am, prior to the service.
