On This Day, 1998: Big Numbers Abound as Bentley Completes 8-2 Season with 38-23 Win over Stonehill

On November 14, 1998, senior running Matt Rapoza amassed 253 yards of all-purpose running yards in his final career game, sophomore Ted Larkin threw for 369 yards and senior linebacker Tyler Bradshaw made a career-high 18 tackles as Bentley closed out an 8-2 season with a 38-23 home win over Stonehill.

Bentley amassed 623 yards of total offense, breaking the school record of 619 set six years earlier against St. John's. That mark has been broken three times since, most recently on Nov. 16, 2013 when the Falcons had 694 against Saint Anselm.

Rapoza, who became the first player in Bentley history to accumulate 3,000 yards of all-purpose running yards during a career, ran for 172 yards and two TDs on 24 carries and had three receptions for 81 yards, including a 51-yarder from Larkin for Bentley's first TD of the afternoon. He also had scoring runs of 66 and two yards.

Larkin completed 18 of 28 passes with all three of his scoring strikes covering at least 50 yards. In addition to the 51-yarder to Rapoza, he teamed up with junior Chris Frisoli on a 57-yarder and 69-yarder to junior Mark DeBrito.

Bentley came up with three takeaways and turned the first two into touchdowns. Recovering fumbles were graduate linebacker Todd Shulman, senior strong safety Sean Gray and senior defensive end Bill Tucker.
