Ryan Tabbed 2nd-Team Preseason All-America by d2football.com
WALTHAM, Mass. – The preseason honors continue for wide receiver Austin Ryan (Foxborough/Foxborough HS) with the Bentley University sophomore named to the d2football.com preseason All-America second team.
Following a standout freshman season, Ryan was previously cited by College Football America (Division II preseason starting lineup) and Lindy's Football Annual (2018 All-Division II preseasojn first team).
Ryan was tied for the NCAA Division II lead in touchdown receptions in 2017, pulling in 16 in ten games of action. He finished with 49 catches for 1,237 yards with his average of 25.2 yards per reception third best in Division II. Ryan's rookie season included a school-record 284 receiving yards and four TDs in a 35-31 upset win at Assumption, 209 yards and three TDs vs. Southern Connecticut State, three TD catches in a win over nationally-ranked LIU Post and 152 yards and two scores in a win against Saint Anselm.
He collected a number of honors for his play, including Don Hansen Football Gazette Division II Freshman of the Year, Don Hansen Football Gazette Division II first-team All-America, first-team All-Northeast-10, Northeast-10 Freshman of the Year, D2CCA All-Region second team and New England Football Writers Division II-III All-New England.
Bentley, coming off a 6-4 season, opens Thursday, Aug. 30 with a non-conference home game against West Chester University.
