Thorbahn Recognized as Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following an outstanding performance for the Falcons on Saturday, Bentley University sophomore cornerback Peter Thorbahn (Norwell/Xaverian Bros. HS) has been recognized as the Defensive Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Thorbahn is the third member of the Bentley secondary to receive the honor this season, joining junior Nick Athy (Holliston/Holliston HS) on Sept. 25 and sophomore Quintin McDermott (Franklin/ Milton Academy) on Sept. 18.

Thorbahn keyed a 21-point 4th-quarter with two interceptions, including a 34-yard pick-6, as the Falcons rallied for a 28-10 win over American International. He also recovered an onside kick earlier in the game and was credited with five tackles, including a half-sack.

For the season, Thorbahn is third on the team in tackles (35) and also has three interceptions, five pass break-ups and a forced fumble. Last fall, he earned Defensive Player of the Week honors once and was selected second-team All-Northeast-10.

Also honored by the conference were freshman wide receiver Austin Ryan (Foxborough/ Foxborough HS) and junior linebacker Andrew Carmichael (Wayland/Wayland HS). Both were named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll.

Carmichael made 11 tackles with two tackles for losses as the Falcons kept AIC to under 200 yards of total offense. Ryan finished with six catches for 108 yards, the third time he's hit the century mark, and a 21-yard TD.

This Saturday, Bentley (4-2, 4-1 NE10) will play a 6 pm game at Stonehill College.
