Bentley Sweeps NE10 Football Weekly Awards Following Impressive Win

WALTHAM, Mass. – After handing ninth-ranked LIU Post its first regular season loss since November 2015, the Bentley University Falcons swept the Northeast-10 Conference weekly awards with seniors Mack Lowrie (Foxborough/Roxbury Latin HS) and Brendan Burke (Norristown, Pa./Haverford School), junior Nick Athy (Holliston/Holliston HS) and freshman Austin Ryan (Foxborough/Foxborough HS) collecting the honors.

Lowrie was the selection as the Offensive Player of the Week, Athy received a similar accolade on the defensive side of the ball, Burke was chosen as the Special Teams Player of the Week and Ryan received his second NE10 Rookie of the Week award.

Athy had a hand in five of LIU Post's six turnovers as the Falcons won their third straight contest. He intercepted two passes (including one in the end zone), recovered two fumbles and also forced a fumble. In addition, he finished the contest with eight tackles and a pass break-up.

Lowrie threw five TD passes against the Pioneers with each one longer than the previous one. Distances were 7 and 20 yards in the first quarter, 22 and 29 in the second, and 56 in the fourth. Overall, he was 18 of 28 for 255 yards and just one turnover.

Ryan caught three touchdown passes for a total of 107 yards, pushing his season total to five. He was on the receiving end of 22- and 29- yard scoring strikes in the first half and added a 56-yarder in the fourth after the Pioneers pulled within 26-21.

Burke had his best punting day of the season, punting the ball four times for an average of 40.5 yards.

Senior linebacker Brandon Brown (Oxon Hill, Md./Suitland HS) was also recognized, with selection to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll. He led the Falcons in tackles with 11, including six solo stops, and also had a tackle for loss and a forced fumble.

Bentley, 3-1 overall, will look to extend its winning streak Saturday at Pace University.
