Connor Peck's college years have swept by, the days on the football field dwindling to a precious few. "I'm not a kid anymore," said the Bentley University senior offensive lineman. "A new world will be starting for me."

But there's a bit more football to get out of his system.

For teammate Quintin McDermott, a college gridiron career is basically just beginning at Bentley. The sophomore is set to start in the Falcons' defensive backfield. While Peck carved out a road to being a three-year starter, McDermott is scratching out his own path.

McDermott and Peck took different routes to get to the Waltham campus. Peck is from Sherborn, which had no youth football program. So he went to Holliston's program, altering his athletic horizon. Baseball had been his chosen sport.

McDermott, from Franklin, didn't project to play football because of his size. Sure, he was tall enough, but there was little meat on those bones. He plunged on, bolstered by encouragement from his father, Dan, who told him to just play with intensity and passion, and see what happens.
