Thorbahn Named Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University freshman cornerback Peter Thorbahn (Norwell/ Xaverian Brothers HS) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Football Rookie of the Week following his performance Saturday against West Chester University.

Thorbahn, who started for the Falcons in his first collegiate game, made four unassisted tackles and recorded an interception in the 31-24 loss to a strong Golden Ram team.  Bentley led most of the way before surrendering 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.

Last year at Xaverian, Thorbahn was selected to the ESPN Boston All-State team and received All-Scholastic honors from both the Boston Globe and Boston Herald.

Also recognized by the conference, with selection to the NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll, was senior free safety Sam McDonald (Norfolk/King Philip Reg. HS). He had two interceptions, boosting his career total to 16, and shared the team lead in tackles with eight.

McDonald, now two shy of the Bentley and NE-10 career interception record (18), leads active Division II players with 16 career picks. The only active NCAA player with more is James Holley-Grisham of St. Lawrence, with 17.

Bentley will begin conference play this Saturday with a 4 pm game at Saint Anselm College.
