Walpole Times: "Hanley expected to start in Bentley's season opener"

After a couple injury-riddled seasons, senior Craig Hanley is expected to be one of Bentley's starting linebackers when the Falcons open Saturday at Mercyhurst. Mike Biglin, a sports reporter with the Walpole Times, recently caught up with Hanley for this story that appeared in the Sept. 2 edition of the paper and also online at walpole.wickedlocal.com.

After battling injuries the past two seasons, Craig Hanley knows his final football season at Bentley University will be his best if he can just stay on the field. If Hanley can stay healthy, Falcons coach Bill Kavanaugh knows the senior linebacker will have a major impact on the season.
"He's a great kid, and he has the ability defensively to find the ball, which we like," said Kavanaugh. "He always seems to be around it, whether it be on defense or special teams. We just have to keep him healthy."
The former Walpole High standout and Shriners All-Star Classic selection lost most of his sophomore season to a torn knee ligament. He came into last season recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum, and then also suffered a concussion. But Hanley finished the second part of his junior campaign healthy and strong, and closed the season by making his first career start against Merrimack.
"It's been a little bit of a bumpy ride," said Hanley, "but I feel really great right now. Hopefully I can have a successful season."
