Quartet Named 2015 Bentley Football Captains

WALTHAM, Mass. – Offensive lineman Matt Biscardi (Holbrook, N.Y./St. Anthony's HS) and a trio of defensive linemen – Quincy Giles (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral HS), Paul Norris (North Attleboro/North Attleboro HS) and Bob Richman (North Attleboro/North Attleboro HS) – will serve as captains for the 2015 Bentley University football team. All are entering their senior year.

"This group of young men has earned the respect of their teammates and were elected to lead our 2015 team," said Kavanaugh, who is preparing for his second year as head coach at his alma mater. "We've had outstanding leadership from our entire senior class this spring, and these four have taken the lead.  I am confident this group can lead our team to success."

Richman, who'll be using his fifth year of eligibility, was also a team captain last fall, a season that ended with a knee injury in week three. Prior to being sidelined, the 6-0, 260-pounder had played in 34 consecutive contests, making a total of 66 tackles, including 3.5 sacks. He started every game as a junior in 2013 with his 37 tackles a career-best.

Norris is coming off a strong 2014 season, one that saw him earn second-team All-Northeast-10 Conference honors and rank among the conference leaders in both tackles for losses (13) and sacks (7). The 6-2, 230-pound end was in on a total of 36 tackles, boosting his career total to 58. In addition to earning All-Conference honors on the field, he was also an Academic All-Northeast-10 honoree.

Giles, a 6-1, 245-pounder, was second to Norris among Bentley defensive linemen in tackles last fall, making a total of 35 stops with three sacks and a forced fumble. It was the third straight year he's had at least 34 and he'll enter his final season with 104 career tackles, including 11.5 for losses and 5.5 sacks.

Biscardi, a six-footer who weighs in at 275, has started 17 games over the last two seasons at guard, including nine as a junior when he helped the Falcon offense produce nearly 30 points and 400 yards per game.

Bentley, which closed out a 5-6 2014 season by winning four of its final five games, will open the year on the road, a Sept. 5 encounter at Mercyhurst University. The first home and Northeast-10 game is six days later with the University of New Haven providing the opposition.
