Five Bentley Falcons Named to 2015 NFF Hampshire Honor Society

WALTHAM, Mass. – Five former Bentley University football players were among 817 players nationally selected for the 2015 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society. The Falcons' total of five honorees was tied for the second most among Division II institutions nationally.

Earning the accolade were grad student Danny Guadagnoli (Framingham/Framingham HS) and seniors Brad Keirstead (Waltham/Waltham HS), Jet Kollie (Lowell/Lowell HS), Nick McCarthy (Winthrop/Winthrop HS) and Adam Milton (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich HS).

The Hampshire Honor Society, now in its ninth year, represents college football players from all divisions of play who are starters or significant contributors and have maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career.

"We continue to raise the bar each year for the number of student-athletes who qualify for membership in the Hampshire Honor Society," said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. "The Hampshire Honor Society plays an important role in highlighting that college football players clearly play a leadership role in the classroom as well as on the playing field. We congratulate each of these young men for their commitment to excellence."

Guadagnoli, the Offensive Player of the Year in the Northeast-10, led the conference in touchdown passes (31) and passing yards per game (313.0) in 2014 while breaking the school record for passing yards in a season for the second straight year, finishing with 3,438. Guadagnoli, a three-year starter who is now pursuing his MBA in finance, finished his career as the second most prolific QB in program history with his totals including 9,275 passing yards, 69 TD passes and a.600 completion percentage.

Keirstead played in 41 games during his four seasons, starting a total of 28 from 2012-14, and finished his career with 128 tackles, five interceptions and 17 pass break-ups. As a senior, the finance major was in on 37 stops and picked off three passes, including two against Merrimack Oct. 11.

Kollie, who spent two seasons at Bentley after transferring from Lafayette, was second on the team in all-purpose yards, amassing 946 in 11 games. The 5'6", 160-pounder caught 29 passes for 332 yards, averaged 13.5 yards on 13 punt returns and 22 yards on 19 kickoff returns.  Kollie, a corporate finance and accounting major, scored a total of nine touchdowns in 19 career games for the Falcons.

McCarthy, a finance major, was one of only two Falcons to play in every game the last four seasons. His senior year saw him finish fourth on the team in tackles with 65, including 40 solo stops, and intercept three passes. He also recovered two fumbles and forced the same number. McCarthy's career totals included 164 tackles, six interceptions and ten pass break-ups.

Milton played in every game over the last two seasons, as a receiver and on special teams. The economics-finance major caught seven passes for 46 yards as a senior.

Bentley posted a 5-6 record during the 2014 season and closed the year with four wins in the final five games.
