Kollie Named NE-10 Special Teams Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior Jet Kollie (Lowell/Lowell HS) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Special Teams Player of the Week Monday following the Falcons' 38-7 win at Southern Connecticut State Saturday.

Kollie amassed 229 all-purpose yards with his 142 punt return yards (on five returns) the most by a Division II player this season. He had a 40-yard return and a 74-yarder, both of which set up Falcon touchdowns, with the latter one just three yards shy of the Bentley varsity record. In addition, Kollie caught a 50-yard pass and had two kickoff returns for 37 yards.

Kollie, who had returned only two punts before Saturday, is second on the team in all-purpose yards. He averages 23.2 yards on kick returns, with a long of 60, and has 10 receptions for 162 yards.

Kollie, who began his career at Lafayette University, has gained 2,264 all-purpose running yards as a collegian.

Three other Falcons also received honors this week with grad student Danny Guadagnoli (Framingham/Framingham HS), senior wide receiver Jeff Hill (Mansfield/Mansfield HS) and junior defensive end Paul Norris (North Attleboro/North Attleboro HS) all named to the NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll.

In addition, Norris was chosen as one of three Division II Defensive Linemen of the Week by the Beyond Sports Network.

Norris led a strong defensive effort with his three sacks (-24 yards) the most by a Falcon since his coach, Bill Kavanaugh, had 3.5 against Saint Anselm in the 2002 season-opener. He totaled eight tackles, half of which resulted in losses.

Guadagnoli completed 23 of 39 passes for 342 yards and four touchdowns (7, 3, 70 and 15 yards). He did most of his work in the first half, throwing for 257 yards and three scores. With 348 yards total offense, Guadagnoli climbed from fourth to second on the program's all-time list.

Hill, who has caught at least one TD pass in five straight games, had seven receptions for 141 yards and two TDs (7, 70 yards) against the Owls. He became the third Falcon to reach 3,000 career receiving yards, the fifth with 3,000 all-purpose yards and the sixth with 200 career points.

Bentley, 2-5, will host Pace University Saturday at 1 pm.
