Beauregard hits grand slam, Walonis homers twice in 33-8 win at AIC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Jackson Walonis crushed two home runs, Eddy Beauregard hit a grand slam, and six Falcons drove in at least four runs each as the Bentley baseball team trounced American International, 33-8, Tuesday. The 33 runs are a new single-game program record, breaking the previous mark of 31 set in 1997. The 14-run fifth inning ties the Bentley record for most runs in an inning.

Bentley scored 30+ runs in a game for the first time since 2008, when the Falcons beat Bridgeport by the final score of 30-1.

At first, it appeared as though AIC would have the big day with the bats – pushing across five runs in the first inning. But the Falcons answered right back with five runs of their own, and then pushed nine runs across the plate in the third inning.

Bentley had a monstrous fifth inning, where it scored 14 runs – including nine with two outs on the board.

Walonis hit a two-run homer in the second inning, and added a solo shot in the sixth. He scored six times in the game. Beauregard drove in seven runs on three hits, and he scored four times. His big game included a grand slam in the seventh inning.

Tommy Bolton knocked in six runs, scored four times, and went 4-for-5 at the plate. Steve Rizzuto went 4-for-6 and drove in four runs. One of Cory Bright's two hits was a two-run homer in the fifth inning.

The Falcons return home Friday, April 26, to host Assumption at 3:30 p.m.
