Falcons out-slug Ravens for 13-11 road win

RINDGE, N.H. – Four Falcons homered as the Bentley baseball team out-slugged Franklin Pierce for a 13-11 conference win Friday afternoon.

Tim Zupkus, Eddy Beauregard, Brendan Sencaj, and Tommy Bolton each cleared the fences in the win.

The Ravens claimed a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Bolton put the Falcons on the board with a solo blast in the third inning. Bentley tied the game, 3-3, in the fourth. Zupkus led off with a single, and he came in to score on Steve Rizzuto's double. Rizzuto then scored the tying run when Beauregard hit a single to center field.

Bentley tacked on four more runs in the fifth inning, including a solo homer by Zupkus, and a two-run shot by Beauregard.

The Falcons showed no signs of slowing down with a five-run sixth inning. Sencaj was the second batter in the stanza, and he belted a two-run homer to start the rally. Joe Cacciatore and Zupkus both drew walks, setting up an RBI single hit by Rizzuto. Beauregard then drew a walk to load the bases, and Jackson Walonis delivered a two-run hit.

Rizzuto finished with a game-high three hits, and Beauregard came away with a game-high four RBI. Zupkus, Rizzuto, and Bolton each scored three times.

Steve Hardiman earned the win by striking out nine batters an walking one during his 5.1 innings as the starter. Harper Flint finished Franklin Pierce with a three-inning save.

The Falcons and Ravens meet again for doubleheader Saturday, March 30, starting at 12 p.m.
