Cacciatore, Rizzuto each drive in three runs during 9-7 win at AIC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Bentley baseball team erupted for a seven-run second inning to come away with a 9-7 victory at American International Sunday afternoon. It was the Falcons' first Northeast-10 game of the season. The second game of Sunday's scheduled doubleheader is postponed for a date to be determined.

Steve Rizzuto and Joe Cacciatore both drove in three runs Sunday, and eight different Falcons came around the bases to score.

Harper Flint earned the victory by pitching 3.2 innings out of the bullpen. His record improves to a perfect 4-0 on the season.

Bentley's big second inning got started with a one-out double by Jackson Walonis. Brian Lindsay followed with a single, and Brendan Sencaj drew a walk to load the bases. Tommy Bolton moved the runners up with a base hit, allowing Walonis to score the first run of the game.

Cacciatore next stepped to the plate, and he ripped a bases-clearing double down the right field line. The rally continued when Tim Zupkus drew a two-out walk, and Cory Bright brought Cacciatore home with a double to right field.

With two runners still on base for Bentley, Rizzuto crushed a double to center field – allowing Zupkus and Bright to score the six and seventh runs of the stanza.

The Falcons added two more runs in the seventh inning thanks to an RBI double by Tyler Gonzalez, and another RBI base knock from Rizzuto.

Bentley continues its NE10 slate on the road when it travels to Franklin Pierce for three games, March 29-30.
