Hardiman goes the distance in 4-2 victory over California (PA)

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. – Steve Hardiman earned a complete-game win to lead the Bentley baseball team to a 4-2 victory over California (PA) Saturday.

Hardiman allowed only six hits and three walks through his nine innings on the hill, lowering his season ERA to 2.25.

The Falcons and Vulcans exchanged one run in both the first and second innings. In the home half of the opening frame, Hunter Smith led off by reaching base on an error. He stole second base, moved to third on a single by Cory Bright, and came in to score on a sac fly by Steve Rizzuto.

Smith remained a menace in the second inning by hitting an RBI single that plated Tommy Bolton.

Bentley took a 3-2 lead in the third inning. Rizzuto was on second base with two outs when Brendan Sencaj hit an RBI double to left field.

The Falcons got in insurance run when Bolton laid down a squeeze bunt that scored Tyler Gonzalez.

Both Bright (2-for-4) and Sencaj (2-for-3) finished the game with multiple hits.

Bentley next takes on Wilmington (Del.) Sunday, March 10, at 11 a.m. Barry University is hosting the game in Florida.
