Adelphi Sweeps Bentley, 6-3 & 9-4

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. -- Graduate left fielder Kyle Olson (Holbrook, N.Y.) had four hits and five RBI as Adelphi University swept Bentley University, 6-3 and 9-4, in non-conference college baseball Saturday afternoon at Bonomo Memorial Field.

Adelphi, 17-21, took two of three during the weekend series and the two teams split the four meetings between the two this season. Bentley will take a 15-18 record into Tuesday's non-conference game at Saint Rose.

In the opener, Bentley scored twice in the second inning to go up 2-0. Senior DH Cory Bright (Melrose, Mass./Bishop Fenwick HS) had an RBI single and senior catcher Brian Lindsay (New Durham, N.H./Kingswood Reg. HS) picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice.

Adelphi countered with three in the bottom of the inning, with two scoring on a ground-rule double to left center by graduate center fielder Cooper Johnson (Newington, Conn..

The Panthers started fast in game two, building a 7-0 lead after two innings. Olson had a three-run homer in the first and made it 6-0 with a two-run single through the right side in the second.

Bentley's offense was led by senior third baseman Steve Rizzuto (Belmont, Mass./Belmont HS), who had three hits and two RBI in the doubleheader. Included was a two-run single to left center in the seventh inning.
