Bentley Finishes Season Among NCAA Div. II Statistical Leaders

WALTHAM, Mass. – The NCAA released the final Division II baseball statistics for 2014 on Monday and the Bentley University Falcons were in the top three in two team categories.

The Falcons were tied for second in triples per game, hitting 20 in 40 games for an average of 0.50. Bentley's school record .976 fielding percentage was third best, trailing both Minnesota State-Mankato and Chico State, two Division II World Series participants, by one-thousandth of a point.

Bentley, which finished at 22-18, was also tenth in total triples (20), 21st in stolen bases per game (2.05), 39th in hits allowed per nine innings (8.65), 41st in total stolen bases (82), 43rd in ERA (3.54), 54th in double plays per game (0.83) and 56th in WHIP (1.35).

Individually, senior right fielder Tom Nagy (Fairfield, Conn./Ludlowe HS) was ninth in triples per game (0.15) and tied for 14th in total triples (6). Senior shortstop Will Brennan (Locust Valley, N.Y./ Locust Valley HS) was ranked in both categories as well, 18th in average triples (0.13) and tied for 30th in total triples (5).

Senior left fielder Sean Keady (Norwood/Norwood HS) was 63rd in stolen bases per game (0.48) and 75th in walks per game (0.63). Keady finished his career with 114 stolen bases, a school record and the sixth most by any player active during 2014, regardless of division.
