Ashline Named to Northeast-10 All-Championship Team following Ironman Performance

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior right-handed pitcher JP Ashline (Clinton/Acton-Boxborough Reg. HS) was Bentley University's representative on the 2013 Northeast-10 Conference Baseball All-Championship team following an ironman performance Thursday afternoon in a 4-3 11-inning loss to eventual champion University of New Haven.

Making his 13th start of the season, tying the Bentley single season record, and what proved to be his final appearance in a Falcon university, Ashline went the distance in the game, which was divided into two with a two-hour-plus weather delay following the fifth inning. He struck out eight, limited the Chargers to seven hits and issued four walks.

The most amazing number from his performance against New Haven was 177 pitches, 106 of which were strikes. He threw 80 before the game was held up and another 97 after play resumed.

A third-team All-Northeast-10 performer, Ashline finished the season with a 6-3 record and a 2.45 ERA in 91.2 innings. He limited opposing hitters to a .252 average with 23 walks and 52 strikeouts. From Mar. 30-Apr. 26, Ashline posted victories in five consecutive starts.

Ashline closed out his career with a 15-11 record and a 3.58 ERA in 51 appearances, 24 of those coming as a starter.

Bentley finished the 2013 season with a 27-22 record.
