Brennan Selected for Capital One Academic All-District 1 Team
WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University junior shortstop Will Brennan (Locust Valley, N.Y./ Locust Valley HS) has been selected to the 2013 Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-District 1 baseball team by the region's sports information directors.
District I includes the Northeast-10 Conference, the East Coast Conference and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The first-team selections will advance to the national ballot for Capital One Academic All-America® consideration.
Brennan is hitting .278 for the Falcons with 47 hits, 32 runs scored and 14 RBI. His .366 on base percentage is a team-best, and he's been solid in the field with only eight errors in 43 games. Brennan leads the NE-10 in assists (52) and his fielding percentage (.966) is the best by any conference player with at least 105 assists.
Brennan, who had a 16-game hitting streak earlier this season, has been a fixture at shortstop since the middle of last season and is a .309 career hitter. As a sophomore, he batted .351 with 18 RBI in 35 games.
Academically, Brennan has amassed a 3.42 GPA while majoring in corporate finance and accounting.
Bentley, entering a three-game series at UMass-Lowell to finish the regular season, is 26-17 overall and in first place in the NE-10's Northeast Division.
The Capital One Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2012-13 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
