Bentley Baseball Remains #5 in East Region Rankings; Yohe Honored by NCBWA

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the second straight week, the Bentley University Falcons are number five in the NCAA Division II Baseball East Region rankings.

Southern New Hampshire remained at the top of the rankings, with the Penmen (36-12) followed by Franklin Pierce (31-13-1), Le Moyne (31-12-1) and St. Thomas Aquinas (30-15). Rounding out the list are Saint Anselm (25-21-2) in sixth, Stonehill (26-18) in seventh and Pace (26-17) in eighth.

Earlier this week, Bentley (25-21 overall, 25-12 vs. East Region teams) also moved into the East Region rankings compiled by members of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, debuting in the number eight slot.

In addition, the NCBWA named Bentley junior John Yohe (Merrick, N.Y./St. Dominic HS) as its Division II East Region Pitcher of the Week.  It's the second straight week that a Falcon right-hander from Long Island received the honor as grad student Rob Finneran (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City HS) was last week's honoree.

Yohe, who was also cited as the Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week, was outstanding in a 4-0 win at St. Michael's Friday. He pitched a two-hit complete game shutout with a career-best 11 strikeouts and only two walks. Yohe didn't allow a hit in nine at bats with runners on base and during one stretch, retired 16 in a row.
