Galligan Pitches Stonehill Past Bentley, 6-2

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Senior righty Bryan Galligan (Brockton, Mass.) took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and yielded only two hits through seven scoreless innings to lead Stonehill College to a 6-2 win over Bentley University in non-conference baseball at Rollins College's Alfond Stadium Sunday afternoon.

Galligan walked two and struck out six before giving way to a pair of relievers for the final two innings.

Bentley sophomore righty John Yohe (Merrick, N.Y./St. Dominic HS) matched Galligan over the first three innings, but gave up three unearned runs on three hits and a pair of errors. Lead-off hitter and second baseman Nick Nardacci (Bethlehem, N.Y.) led off the inning with a double down the left field line and scored on a throwing error on an attempted sacrifice an inning later.

An RBI single by senior third baseman Scott Hackett (Bangor, Maine) in the fourth made it a 4-0 game and the 7-2 Skyhawks added two more runs in the sixth, both scoring on a double to left center by sophomore shortstop Mike Zeiner (Simsbury,Conn.).

Sophomore shortstop Logan Gillis (Merrimack, N.H./Lawrence Academy) spoiled the shutout bid of Galligan with one out in the sixth, driving a 1-0 pitch to center for a single.

Bentley, 3-6, got on the scoreboard in the eighth when freshman center fielder Sean Keady (Norwood, Mass./Norwood HS) stole second after reaching on a fielder's choice and scored on a single through the right side by senior right fielder Chris Hardy (Warwick, R.I./Bishop Hendricken HS).

Junior left fielder Mark Lane (Tyngsboro, Mass./Tyngsboro HS) made it a 6-2 game with a ninth-inning sacrifice fly.

The two games play again Monday afternoon, also at Rollins, with the first pitch slated for 4 pm.
