Emergency Plan Synthetic Field Venue:  men’s and women’s lacrosse, field hockey

 

Emergency Personnel:

  1. Certified athletic trainer on site for some practices
  2. Certified athletic trainer at all games
  3. Additional sports medicine staff accessible from athletic training facility (in the Dana Center) during normal business hours

Emergency Communication:

  1. Cellular phone- 781-891-3131 to Campus Police
  2. Portable radio (set to Channel 4) to Campus Police
  3. Red Emergency intercom located in the first floor hallway of the Dana Athletic Center

Emergency Equipment:

  1. Athletic training kit on site for all practices and games
  2. Trauma, splint kit and AED on site for all games; located in the athletic training facility in the Dana Center for practices
  3. Crutches, spine board maintained in the Athletic Training Room 

Roles of First Responders:

  1. Immediate care of injured or ill student-athlete
  2. Activation of emergency medical system (EMS)- thru Campus Police
    1. contact Campus Police- 781-891-3131; portable radio- channel 4; Red intercom in Dana Center
    2. provide name, location, number of individuals injured, nature of the injury, first aid treatment, cell phone number, any other information as requested
    3. Emergency equipment retrieval
    4. Assist EMS to scene
      1. open appropriate gates  
      2. designate individual to “flag down” Campus Police/EMS and direct them to the scene
      3. Scene control: limit the scene to first aid providers and move bystanders away from the area

 Venue Directions:

  1. The synthetic field is located on the lower campus
  2. Turn off of Beaver Street onto Fields Road
  3. Continue on Fields Road and turn (R) onto access road
  4. It is directly across from Fenway Hall.  Two gates provide access to the stadium.
