Emergency Plan Dana Athletic Center

Pool

 

Emergency Personnel:

  1. Certified athletic trainer on site for some practices and all competition
  2. Additional sports medicine staff accessible from athletic training room located in the Dana Center during normal business hours

Emergency Communication:

  1. Campus telephones located in the pool offices- extension 3131 
  2. Red Emergency intercom located in the first floor hallway of the Dana Athletic Center 

Emergency Equipment:

  1. First aid supplies, spine board, AED on site for all practices and competition 
  2. Athletic training kit and trauma kit on site for competition
  3. Crutches and splint kit maintained in the Athletic Training Room   

Roles of First Responders:

  1. Immediate care of injured or ill student-athlete
  2. Activation of emergency medical system (EMS)- thru Campus Police
    1. contact Campus Police- extension 3131; Red intercom in hallway
    2. provide name, location number of individuals injured, nature of the injury, first aid treatment, any other information as requested
  3. Emergency equipment retrieval
  4. Assist EMS to scene
    1. open appropriate doors
    2. designate individual to “flag down” Campus Police/EMS and direct them to the scene
    3. scene control: limit the scene to first aid providers and move bystanders away from the area 

 Venue Directions:

  1. The swimming pool is located in the Charles A. Dana Athletic Center located on the lower campus
  2. Turn off of Beaver Street onto Falcon Way
  3. Turn (R) onto Alumni Drive and follow down to parking lot 22 next to Dana Center 
  4. At the end of the Dana Center is a walkway- follow walkway to the 3rd set of doors for access to pool
