WALTHAM, Mass. – Following nine years as the Director of Athletic Communications at the University of Puget Sound, Gregor Walz has returned to his hometown to serve in the same role at Bentley University, Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams announced.

Walz succeeds College Sports Communicators Hall of Famer Dick Lipe, who served as Bentley's Sports Information Director for 46 years, from 1977 to 2023. Lipe will continue to be a part of the Bentley athletic communications staff on a parttime basis, working with the men's basketball, women's basketball and golf teams, as well as handling special projects.

"I am truly grateful that Vaughn Williams, Kevin Loftus, and the search committee chose me to succeed Dick Lipe's legacy," said Walz. "Between the staff, students, and alumni, Bentley Athletics has a tremendous foundation for promoting student-athletes and Falcons teams in creative and engaging ways. I'll always cherish my time at Puget Sound. Of course, a move cross-country back to my hometown wouldn't be possible without my wife's love and support."

Walz, a 2009 graduate of Springfield College, developed and executed communications strategy for the Division III Loggers since July 2014. His responsibilities included overseeing a game and events staff of ten-plus people, creating all game programs and graphics, developing postgame and hype videos, and handling all game previews and recaps, feature stories and press releases.

Following the 2017-18 season, Walz was recognized as the Northwest Conference SID of the Year. He's served on the CSC Academic All-America and New Media committees and has been active with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pierce County.

Before his move to the west coast, Walz was an athletic communications assistant at Northeastern University, a sports media relations graduate assistant at UW-Stevens Point and an athletics marketing assistant at Wofford College.
