6 Bentley Teams & 359 Student-Athletes Recognized by Northeast-10 for Academic Excellence

WALTHAM, Mass. – Six Bentley University teams have received 2013-14 Team Academic Excellence Awards from the Northeast-10 Conference, an award presented to the program in each of the conference’s varsity sports that achieves the highest grade point average.

Among those earning the honor were the men’s indoor track and men’s outdoor track teams, both with 3.450 GPAs. Both have received the recognition each of the five years since the award was created in 2010.

Football (2.920) and men’s lacrosse (3.160) were both recognized for the fourth time in five years, golf (3.410) was cited for the third time, and men’s basketball (3.140) received the award for the first time.

Overall for Bentley, 21 of its 22 Northeast-10 programs achieved a 3.0 GPA during the 2013-14 academic year.

The conference also announced the Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the spring semester and Bentley led the NE-10 with 359 student-athletes recognized for having a GPA of 3.0 or better for the semester. That represented 71 percent of the university’s student-athletes, the second highest mark in the NE-10.

Of the 359, 163 achieved GPA’s of at least 3.50 during the spring, including nine who recorded perfect 4.0’s: Lauren Battista (women’s basketball), Brittany Baudier (women’s track & cross country), Tim Bolick (men’s track & cross country), Jackie Brown (women’s lacrosse), Jaci Buscher (women’s lacrosse), Keegan Hyland (men’s basketball), John Perkins (golf), Alix Pettinella (women’s track & cross country) and Sal Visali (golf).
