Top two NE10 teams set to clash in Connecticut

WALTHAM, Mass. – The top two teams in the Northeast-10 clash in Connecticut when Bentley takes on New Haven Friday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. The Falcons carry with them a 14-game winning streak.

 

Around the NE10

Bentley is 6-0 overall in the conference, and New Haven is 5-0. Adelphi is in third place entering this weekend with a 4-1 mark, and American International is 4-2. Saint Anselm (3-2) and Southern New Hampshire (3-2) are also over .500 in conference play.

 

Inside the streak

Bentley has won 14 consecutive matches, which is the program's longest winning streak since 2019 (16). The Falcons have nine 3-0 wins during their current win streak.

 

Murphy joins the 1K club

Ingrid Murphy became the 9th player in school history to reach 1,000 career kills when the Falcons beat Southern Connecticut, 3-0, at home last week (Oct. 20). She leads the team in kills this season with 195, averaging 2.64 per set.

 

Stinging the Yellow Jackets

Bentley won a thrilling five-set match at home against American International last week (Oct. 21). AIC had a 21-20 lead in the fifth and decisive set, but the Yellow Jackets committed an error, and Rachel Vitko put away a kill and an ace to seal the win for Bentley.

 

Ace in the hole

Bentley's 2.72 service aces per ser ranks second in the country. Jazzy Burke leads the team with 0.54 aces per set, and Lauren Hallas is averaging 0.50.

 

Still Blinn from the Block

Elizabeth Blinn continues to one of the premiere blockers in all of NCAA D-II. The sophomore's 1.28 blocks per set ranks ninth in the country, and second in the NE10.

 

Scouting New Haven (15-7, 5-0 NE10)

The Chargers lead the conference in hitting percentage by a wide margin, boasting a .236 mark. Macy Brown leads the NE10 in kills (293), and Katherine Rank has the third-best hitting percentage (.415). Michelle Henwood is third in the conference for assists per set (8.57).
