The Bentley volleyball team heads to Springfield for the IVHOF Clash

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley volleyball team travels to Western Massachusetts for the International Volleyball Hall of Fame D-II East Region Clash hosted by American International College, Sept. 15-16. There in Springfield, the Falcons will take on Molloy, Holy Family, and Saint Anselm.

The New Haven Thriller

During the Sandy Hoffman Memorial Tournament (Sept. 8-9), Bentley lost its first two sets against New Haven. However, the Falcons battled back to win the match in five sets, taking the decisive set by a dominant 15-4 score. Following the match, Bentley captain Ingrid Murphy noted that Hoffman used to often say "get tough." Following the first two sets, the Falcons decided to do just that. "[We decided] to do this for something bigger than ourselves," said Murphy.

Tampa tested

Bentley welcomed nationally-ranked No. 4 Tampa to the Dana Center during the Sandy Hoffman Memorial Tournament. The Falcons won the first set, 25-23. The following two sets were just as close, 25-23 and 26-24, but each frame went to the Spartans. Tampa closed out the fourth set, 25-10.

Hasthag Blinning

Sophomore Elizabeth Blinn ranks second in the NE10 for blocks per set (1.27). Her season high is seven total blocks in a match, which she has achieved twice (vs. Eckerd; vs. New Haven).

Starting the offense

Bentley's total of 72 aces is the second-best in the NE10. Natalie Thom has a team-high 18 aces, and Jazzy Burke has 15. The Falcons amassed 18 aces in their win over Dominican (N.Y.) in the opening weekend of the season (Sept. 1). It's the program's most aces in a match since 2005.

As expected

The Falcons' two All-NE10 First Team selections from last year are leading the offense this fall. Ingrid Murphy has 67 kills so far this season, and Ellie Wheeler has 63.
