Murphy and Wheeler Named Volleyball Captains for 2023 Season

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University head volleyball coach Joey Pacis has announced that graduate student Ingrid Murphy and senior Ellie Wheeler will be the team captains for the 2023 season.

"We're excited to announce that our captains for this season are Ingrid Murphy and Ellie Wheeler," Pacis said. "Both were selected by their teammates and our coaching staff fully supports their decision."

Murphy is a captain for a third straight season. An outside hitter, she was named first team All-Conference and All-Region honorable mention in 2022, in addition to earning CSC Academic All-District honors.

"Ingrid's experience and impact on our program during her four-year undergraduate career are closely knitted into our Bentley volleyball fabric, and we look forward to her final campaign in black and blue co-leading our squad," Pacis commented.

She is pursuing her MBA in financial analytics this year after she completed her undergraduate degrees in data analytics and business studies.

Wheeler is an outside hitter who was named first team All-Conference and to the Academic All-Conference team by the NE10 last season. She was also on the CSC Academic All-District team.

"We anticipate that Ellie's impact on our program on- and off-the court, especially with a large freshmen class, will be executed passionately and with much success," Pacis said.

She is majoring in economics-finance.

The Falcons open the 2023 season at the Sharks Invitational this weekend in Davie, Florida. On Friday they take on Dominican (N.Y.) and Seton Hill and on Saturday they play Eckerd and the tournament hosts, Nova Southeastern.
