Bentley Faces Top-Seed AIC Friday in NE10 Semifinals

WALTHAM, Mass. – Two years ago, the Bentley University Falcons and the American International College Yellow Jackets met in the Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball championship.

AIC took the first two sets but Bentley, behind an enthusiastic crowd in the Dana Center, came back to capture the next three, including 25-14 in the fourth and 25-9 in the fifth, and earn the Northeast-10 championship, their tenth all-time.

The two programs will meet again Friday at 5 pm, this time in the semifinal round and at AIC's Butova Gym. The victor will advance to Saturday's championship game.

Just about two weeks ago, in the only meeting of the two teams since the 2019 title match, AIC gained a 3-0 win in the Dana by the count of 25-21, 25-14, 25-21.

Since then Bentley has posted consecutive four-set wins, on the road at New Haven to deny the Chargers a share of the NE10 regular season championship, and Tuesday night against Southern Connecticut State in the NE10 quarters.

Entering the NE10's, Bentley's two conference award winners have streaks going. Sophomore Ellie Wheeler (Olathe, Kans./Saint James Academy), the NE10 Rookie of the Year and a first-team All-Conference selection, has double-figure kills in 12 straight matches. Junior Ingrid Murphy (Cotuit/Barnstable HS) has double-doubles in five straight matches. The third-team All-Northeast-10 selection has averaged 13.8 kills, 17.2 digs and 3.8 aces during that stretch.

Senior setter Amanda Parker (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North HS) is third in the conference in both assists per set (8.95) and aces per set (0.44). Shannon Ngo (San Rafael, Calif./ Terra Linda HS) has a team-high 50 blocks and freshman Jazzy Burke (Lake George, N.Y./Lake George Central HS) is sixth in digs per set, averaging 4.64 per set.

AIC, 25-6 overall, has won 18 straight matches since a 3-1 loss to Stonehill Sept. 25.
