Burmester wins mile run during Beacon Invitational
BOSTON – Caitlin Burmester won the mile run during the Beacon Invitational hosted by UMass Boston at the TRACK at new balance Sunday.
Burmester won the mile run with a time of 5:10.149. She crossed the finish line more than seven seconds ahead of the next runner. Molly Capece was fifth in the event by timing in at 5:33.241.
HaiLian Rowan was 9th in the 60-m dash, timing in at 8.25 seconds. There were 31 sprinters in the event.
With 26 competitors in the shot put, the Falcons landed a trio in the top 10. Emma Massih placed fifth with a distance of 9.64-m. Adriana Minasian was sixth (9.57-m), and Liz DeVarney was eighth (9.05-m).
Minasian was seventh in the high jump after clearing 1.45-m.
The Falcons next compete in the Greater Boston Track Club Championships, Jan. 21.
