Ambroult Breaks School Record & Finishes 3rd in Long Jump at NE10 Championships

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Bentley University Lucy Ambroult (Holbrook, Mass./Holbrook HS) broke her own school record in the 100 meters and placed third in the long jump Friday during day one of the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Southern New Hampshire University's Mark A. Ouellette Stadium.

Ambroult opened the day by breaking her 100 school record for the third time in five weeks. She was the third fastest qualifier with her 12.45 second clocking bettering the mark she posted two weeks ago at UMass-Lowell by five-hundredths of a second. The finals will be contested on Saturday.

Later in the day, Ambroult cleared a season-best 18 feet, 9.75 inches in the long jump, finishing second to New Haven's Kristen Washington, whose best jump was two inches further. Ambroult's effort was good for fourth on the NCAA Division II East Region performance list.

Ambroult's third event of the day was the 200, and she placed 17th in 27.08 seconds.

Sophomore Caitlin Burmester (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin HS) also turned in strong performances in multiple events. She placed fourth among 16 competitors in the 1500 and had the fourth-best qualifying time for Saturday's finals in the 800, 2:20.61. Her time in the 1500, 4:43.33, was a personal best by 6.50 seconds and moved her to number six on Bentley's all-time list.

Also in the 1500, senior Audrey Christo (Belmont, Mass./Belmont HS) was sixth with her 4:51.97 a PR by 3.05 seconds and 14th best in program history.

Ambroult wasn't the only Falcon to have a career day in the 100. Freshman HaiLian Rowan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland HS), who finished tenth, moved to number four on Bentley's all-time list (12.80) and senior Hannah Greene (Weston, Conn./Weston HS) climbed to number ten with a 13.14. Rowan improved her PR by 0.16 seconds and Greene bettered hers by 1.46. Rowan's 27.56 in the 200 was also a career-best.

All told, Bentley went to the starting line 17 times and the Falcons established ten new personal bests.

Bentley's 17 points were good for sixth place among ten teams.

Action continues Saturday with field events at 10 am and track starting at 12:30. All the action will be streamed on NE10 NOW.
