Ambroult Breaks Own School Record in 100 Meters

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Bentley University junior Lucy Ambroult (Holbrook, Mass./Holbrook HS) improved on her own school record in the 100 meters Saturday while competing in the Triton Invitational at the University of California-San Diego.

Ambroult ran the race in 12.57 seconds, bettering the mark she set last year at Southern New Hampshire by eight-hundredths of a second. It was good for ninth on the Northeast-10 Conference performance list and put her 18th among 56 competitors, most of whom were from Division I programs or club teams.

Ambroult also turned in notable performances in the 200 meters and the long jump. In the latter, she was fourth of 39 with her distance of 18 feet, 6 inches elevating her to the top of the Northeast-10 performance list. She was also 31st of 80 in the 200 with her time of 26.12 fifth best in program history.

Sophomore Caitlin Burmester (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin HS) moved to number three in the NE10 in the 800 with her 2:19.55 good for 13th in a field of 66.

Senior Hannah Greene (Weston, Conn./Weston HS) was 10th of 21 in the high jump with her 5'1.75" matching her career best. She also posted a new PR while placing 41st among 80 in the 200.

Classmate Audrey Christo (Belmont, Mass./Belmont HS) moved to ninth on the NE10 list in the 1500 with her 5:01.31 good for 29th among 77. Anyfern Gonzalez (Salem, Mass./Salem HS), also a senior, extended her PR in the shot put nearly a foot with a 32'0.25". That moved her to tenth on Bentley's all-time list.

Other members of the team were in Fitchburg, Mass. for the Jim Sheehan Invitational. Bentley's highest finish came in the 5,000 where senior Anna Jones (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich HS) was the runner-up with a time of 20:53.66.

Other top performances came from junior Adriana Minasian (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield HS), freshman HaiLian Rowan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland HS) and sophomore Brooke Neri (Westbrook, Conn./Westbrook HS).

Minasian was fifth of nine in the triple jump (31'4.5") and sixth of 12 in the high jump (4'9"), Rowan was ninth of 29 in the 100 (13.36) and 11th of 30 in the 200 (28.83), and Neri was 10th of 34 in the 1500 (5:35.63).

Next Saturday, Bentley will compete in the Merrimack Alumni Classic.
