Davies Breaks Hurdles Record for 2nd Time in 7 Days

BOSTON, Mass. – For the second time in seven days, Bentley University women's track and field captain Chase Davies (Marblehead/Marblehead HS) broke a school record in the 60 meter hurdles.

Davies, who took possession of the indoor 55 meter hurdles record last Saturday in a meet at Southern Connecticut, bettered her own indoor record in the 60 hurdles by running a time of 9.19 seconds in the prelims of the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center. She set the former standard of 9.21 in February 2020 at the University of Maine.

After qualifying for the finals with a time that put her in a tie for fifth on the Northeast-10 Conference performance list, Davies finished eighth overall with a 9.31 in the finals. She also posted a 28.33 in the 200, a personal best by 0.61 seconds and good for 110th in a predominantly Division I field of 136.

Freshman Caitlin Burmester (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin HS) recorded the NE10's fifth fastest 800 meter time of the season, 2:24.98, while finishing 45th of 77.

Another freshman who impressed for the Falcons was Lauren Joseph (Coventry, R.I./Coventry HS). She was 111th of 146 in the mile with her 5:28.17 a PR by 1.51 and good for tenth in the NE10 performance list.

Sophomore Angie Grabmeier (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) climbed one place on Bentley's all-time performance list in the triple jump, clearing 33 feet, 8.75 inches. She was 20th of 26 overall and improved on her personal best by a quarter of an inch.

Also in the mile, senior Samantha Bilodeau (New Ipswich, N.H./Mascenic Reg. HS) was five places back of Joseph with her 5:33.58 an improvement of more than eight seconds on her collegiate best.

Of the 16 Falcons who competed in the meet, 11 achieved new personal bests.

Next weekend, Bentley is scheduled to compete in the New England Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center.
