Davies, Hurwitz Impress During BU John Thomas Terrier Classic

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Chase Davies (Marblehead/Marblehead HS) and junior Sydney Hurwitz (Newton/Newton North HS) impressed for the Bentley University women's indoor track and field team during Friday's John Thomas Terrier Classic at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

Davies finished tenth among 53 competitors in the 60 meter hurdles with her time of 9.34 seconds a new personal best and just six-hundredths of a second off the school record. It improved on her previous best of 9.39 seconds, set during last Sunday's Greater Boston Track Club Invitational and moved her to sixth on the 2019-20 Northeast-10 Conference performance list.

Hurwitz placed 20th of 45 in the long jump with her distance of 17 feet boosting her to number eight on the NE10 performance list. She also was 30th in the 60 hurdles, reaching the line in 9.66 seconds.

New PRs were achieved by senior Chantel Lewis (Bronx, N.Y./Manhattan Center for Science and Math) in the 40 meters and sophomore Megan Niedzwiecki (Old Orchard Beach, Maine/Old Orchard Beach HS) in the shot put.

Lewis ran the 400 in 1:02.14, improving on her previous best by 2.65 seconds, and Niedzwiecki's throw of 31'6" bettered the mark she set Sunday at the GBTC's by three inches.

In the 60 meters, senior Dom Balzora-Rivert (Templeton/Narragansett Reg. HS) was 25th of 51 in 8.31 seconds.

Next weekend, Bentley will compete in the New England Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center.
