Davies, Lewis Among Top Performers for Bentley Women at GBTC Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Chase Davies (Marblehead/Marblehead HS) and senior Chantel Lewis (Bronx, N.Y./Manhattan Center for Science and Math) were among the top performers for the Bentley University women's indoor track and field team during Sunday's Greater Boston Track Club Invitational at the Harvard University Gordon Indoor Track.

Davies was third of 21 in the 60 meter hurdles with her time of 9.39 seconds in the finals second best in program history and the seventh fastest posted in the Northeast-10 Conference this season. She also ran the 200 in 28.94 seconds, good for tenth among 57 runners.

Lewis moved to sixth on Bentley's all-time list in the 300 with her 44.14 good for fifth among 18. She was also part of the Falcons' 4x440 yard relay that was third of six in 4:29.96. That quartet also included sophomore Ann Klee (Neustadt Aisch, Germany), senior Kirsten Lebreux (Biddeford, Maine/ Biddeford HS) and sophomore Kaitlyn Helfer (Floral Park, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy HS).

Senior Dom Balzora-Rivert (Templeton/Narragansett Reg. HS) was sixth of 33 in the 60 meters, posting identical times of 8.33 in both the prelims and finals. She also ran the 300 in 46.45, finishing ninth of 18, and cleared 32'4.75" in the triple jump, placing fifth among ten entrants.

Klee also competed in the 600, finishing sixth of 15 with her 1:47.02 third best in program history.

In the shot put, sophomore Megan Niedzwiecki (Old Orchard Beach, Maine/Old Orchard Beach HS) and freshman Savona Roberts (Bedford, N.H./Bedford HS) had top ten finishes with career best performances. Niedzwiecki was fifth of 28 with a throw of 31 feet, 3 inches, an improvement on her PR by nearly six inches, and Roberts was eighth. She improved on her previous best by 17.5 inches with a distance of 30'8.25".

Eighth-place finishes were achieved by seniors Kayla Fraser (Salem/Salem HS) in the long jump (15'4.25") and Abbie Newman (Hanson/Whitman-Hanson Reg. HS) in the 1000 (3:16.23).

On Friday, Bentley will compete in the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University.
