Bentley Rolls to 6-1 Victory at Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Bentley women's tennis team won a key Northeast-10 match on Thursday when they defeated Saint Anselm 6-1 on the road on Thursday.

Five different players won twice for the Falcons, in the first meeting between the two teams since Bentley defeated the Hawks in the NE10 playoffs 4-0 last spring.

Bentley won the doubles point by taking all three matches for a 1-0 lead. They then won five of six in singles.

In No. 1 Adriana Hiraldo (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and Alessa Matuty (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) were 7-5 winners. In No. 2 Makena Romagnano (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) and Anna Lang (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) won their match 6-2.

The No. 3 match was won by Bentley's team of Zoe Chin (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) and Remi LeSage (Sarasota, Fla./IMG) 6-4.

In singles, Romagnano was victorious in No. 1 in three sets. She dropped the first set 6-4, but battled back 6-3, 6-2 in the next two sets. Hiraldo was a 6-2, 6-4 winner in the No. 2, while Matuty dropped just three games in a 6-2, 6-1 victory in No. 3.

LeSage took the No. 4 match 6-4, 6-3 and Lang eased to a 6-1, 6-0 triumph in No. 5.

The win improved the team's record to 3-6. They will play their final NE10 match of the regular season on Saturday at AIC.
