Hapkiewicz Wins Gold in 1000 Freestyle at NE10 Championship for 3rd Straight Year; 800 Free Relay Takes Silver

WORCESTER, Mass. – On the first night of the 2024 Northeast 10 Women's Swimming and Diving Championship, Bentley's Emma Hapkiewicz won gold in the 1000 freestyle for the third straight year.

That was one of two medals on the night for Hapkiewicz, who helped the 800 free relay team take silver.  Jordan Nuzback swam leadoff, followed by Bella Montanari in the second leg, Skyla Lang in the third leg and Hapkiewicz the anchor leg.

Hapkiewicz's time in the 1000 of 10:22.07 is a season best and was more than 17 seconds better than Southern Connecticut's Jasmine Uricchio in 2nd.

Bentley's Grace Motisi swam a strong race and took bronze with a time of 10:48.40, her best time of the season.

Sophia Wong swam a season best and finished 11th (11:33.40). Katie Keegan (11:40.88) and Rachel Thilow (11:52.43) were 13th and 14th .

In the 800 relay the Falcons finished in 7:47.14 to take silver. Nuzback swam the leadoff leg in 1:55.03, her season best.

Bentley finished the first day in second place with 97 points, six behind SCSU.

Day two of the NE10s gets underway on Friday at 10:15 AM.
