Gonzales & Ubert Help Bentley Swim Past Assumption, 152-110

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Dariana Gonzales (Stamford, Conn./Westhill HS) and freshman Caroline Ubert (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington HS) each won two individual events and participated in a winning relay to help Bentley University swim past Assumption University in women's college swimming Sunday afternoon at the Dana Center pool.

It was the third consecutive victory for the 3-1 Falcons, who were swimming against Northeast-10 rival Assumption in a dual meet for the first time.

Gonzales took first in both the 50 yard freestyle and the 200 free. Her 200 time, 1:56.49, was an NE10 season-best and her 25.11 in the 50 was the second best posted in the conference this season.

Ubert swept the butterfly events with times of 1:01.23 in the 100 and 2:17.95 in the 200. Her 100 time was the second best in the NE10 to date.

Ubert was also part of the Falcons' winning 200 medley relay team, which also included freshman Taylor White (Warwick, Bermuda/Warwick Academy), junior Emily Blatt (Westford/Westford Academy) and senior Kate Galvin (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern HS). Their time was 1:51.74.

Gonzales helped Bentley close out the meet with a win in the 200 free relay (1:42.91). That quartet also included Blatt, White and Galvin.

In the 200 breaststroke, Blatt helped Bentley finish 1-2-3 with her time of 2:29.51 a conference best. White posted an NE10 best 5:19.77 while placing first in the 500 free.

Bentley's other winners were junior Emma Hapkiewicz (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) in the 1000 free (11:06.32), sophomore Hilla Almog (Wayland/Wayland HS) in the first one-meter diving competition (190.65) and senior Mary Huminski (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) in the other diving event (284.00).

The next meet for the Falcons is Friday night at home against Brandeis University.
