Hapkiewicz & White Among 5 Bentley Women Honored by NE10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior Emma Hapkiewicz (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) and freshman Taylor White (Warwick, Bermuda/Warwick Academy) are among five members of the Bentley University women's swimming team who were recognized by the Northeast-10 Conference today.

Hapkiewicz was named the Northeast-10 Women's Swimmer of the Week and White was the choice for NE10 Women's Rookie of the Week honors.

In addition, the Bentley quartet of senior Kate Galvin (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern HS), junior Emily Blatt (Westford/Westford Academy) and sophomore Jordan Nuzback (Fairview, Pa./McDowell HS) received Women's Relay Team of the Week honors for their effort in the 200 medley. Their time of 1:51.14 was a conference season-best by 1.23 seconds.

An NCAA participant and three-time conference a year ago, Hapkiewicz began her season by finishing first in both the 500 and 1000 freestyle races against Wheaton College, with her times of 5:20.77 and 10:57.65 both NE10 bests. She was also third in the 200 free (2:00.29) and part of a Bentley relay team that was fourth in the 200 free (1:45.81).

White made her collegiate debut with four second-place finishes against Wheaton. Her times in both the 100 back (1:01.48) and 500 free (5:23.93) were good for second on the NE10 performance list, and she helped Bentley to NE10 best times in both the 200 free and 200 medley relays.

In addition to the above five, sophomore Hilla Almog (Wayland/Wayland HS) was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll. She opened the season by placing first in the one-meter diving against Wheaton with a score of 225.00.

This weekend, Bentley will be on the road for meets against Le Moyne College and The College of Saint Rose.
