PLEASANTVILLE. N.Y. – Sydney O'Connor scored two goals to help Bentley to a 2-1 road win over Pace on Wednesday night.
O'Connor scored in the 38th and 74th minutes as the Falcons earned a big three points in the NE10 standings.
With three matches left in the regular season, Bentley is in third place with 14 points with a 4-2-2 conference record. Overall they are 5-3-4.
Bentley fell behind 1-0 on a goal by Pace's Andrea Flores in the 19th minute.
But O'Connor's first goal, assisted by goalkeeper Claire Ewen, knotted the score 1-1. The goal began with Ewen punting the ball down the pitch into Bentley's attacking end. It took a high bounce off a Pace player and she gained possession behind the defense for a breakaway. After taking a couple of touches she launched a shot from 15 yards into the top corner of the net for the goal.
The go-ahead goal came in the 74th minute. Emily Hartson sent in a dangerous cross from the deep left wing to O'Connor in between two Pace defenders in the six-yard box. She took one touch and got off a quick shot to beat the charging Pace goalie to make it 2-1.
Bentley went on to close out the final 16-plus minutes to secure the win.
The team's next match is on Oct. 24 at Saint Michael's.
